我们审查了关于低红移 Lyman α 吸收体与光亮星系关系的持续争论。特别是，我们讨论了将特定吸收体“指定”给特定星系的困难， 并考虑了解决这一问题的方法。我们还提供了正在进行的项目的最新进展报告，该项目收集更多数据以解决此问题，并展示了一些结果，涉及一对彼此靠近的准星提供的两条相邻的视线穿过星际介质。
