利用默奇森宽场阵列对月球进行的低频观测

摘要

新一代低频射电望远镜正致力于观测来自再电离时期(EoR)的红移 21 cm 信号,这需要创新的校准和成像方法来克服宽场低频射电干涉测量的困难。为了在 80 至 300 MHz 的感兴趣频率范围内将微弱的预期 EoR 信号与强烈的前景辐射分离开来,需要进行精确校准。月球可用作探测 EoR 特征的校准源,因为它在感兴趣的频带内应具有平滑且可预测的热谱。利用默奇森宽场阵列 32 单元原型机对月球进行的初步观测表明,月球在观测频率范围内确实表现出与冷热辐射体预期的趋势相似的特征,但其光谱受到了来自地球的反射射电辐射的污染。特别是,在国际公认的调频(FM)无线电波段内,观测到的月球流量密度突然增加。这些观测结果对未来需要考虑月球反射辐射的低频巡天和 EoR 探测实验具有重要意义。结果还使我们能够估算地球在 FM 波段发射的等效各向同性功率,并确定对于太阳系以外的观测者而言,地球在米波波长下可能显得有多亮。
