我们概述了最近我们小组获得的主要结果，针对使用撞击星系作为自然引力望远镜来识别和研究非常高z星系（z>7）的工作。我们描述了使用ISAAC/VLT的试点调查，旨在对从深层near-IR、HST和光学地面基准成像中光谱确认z>7候选星系。我们讨论了本次调查的首次结果，特别是这些高z候选星系的整体光度性质，以及它们对非常高z处星际形成率的意义。
