轻质偏移标量玻色子（Light Pseudoscalar Bosons, LPBs）与两光子耦合，被预测出现于标准模型的许多真实扩展中，对光在外部磁场中传播会产生双折射和吸光现象。这些效应最近被 PVLAS 合作项目检测到，强烈暗示存在 LPB。我们对此提供了天体物理学上的交叉验证。实际上，我们展示了在双脉冲星 J0737-3039 中，光子-LPB 转换可导致其一颗脉冲星发射光束穿过伴星磁层时出现的特征衰减模式。此效应在 γ 射线波段可被检测，未来的 GLAST 任务将对此进行观测。
