1.6 EeV以上宇宙线成分以质子为主的迹象

摘要

我们报告了通过分析高分辨蝇眼(HiRes)观测站收集的空气簇射事件的空气簇射最大深度(Xmax),对超高能宇宙线成分的研究。HiRes数据在1.6 EeV至63 EeV的能量范围内,与常数伸长率d<Xmax>/d(log(E)) = 47.9 +- 6.0(统计)+- 3.2(系统)g/cm^2/decade一致,并且当通过QGSJET01和QGSJET-II高能强子相互作用模型解释时,与宇宙线成分以质子为主一致。这些测量限制了那些认为银河系-河外过渡是4 EeV处能谱“踝”成因的模型。
