CHEOPS 太空望远镜对居留空间对象的原位观测

CHARacterising ExOPlanet Satellite (CHEOPS) 是由欧洲空间局 (ESA) 与瑞士合作开发的任务,由 10 个额外的 ESA 成员国提供重要贡献。它是 ESA 科学计划中的首个 S 类任务。CHEOPS 自 2019 年 12 月发射升空至今,处于太阳同步低地球轨道上,持续收集数以百万计的可见光域短曝光图像,以研究行星的特性。尽管 CHEOPS 图像中仍有很小的一部分显示出由居留空间对象穿越仪器视场而引起的线性轨迹,但这一比例正在逐渐增加。为刻画 CHEOPS 观测到的卫星和轨道碎片的统计样本,已对过去 3 年获取的所有科学图像均采用 Hough 变换算法进行扫描,以识别这些对象在图像上引起的特征线性特征。已检测到数千条轨迹。这一统计显著的样本显示出有趣的趋势和特征,例如过去数年出现率的增加以及 Starlink 星座的指纹。正在对 individual 轨迹与已 catalogued 对象进行交叉匹配,以测量观测时这些对象的距离并推断其 apparent 亮度。随着空间机构和私人公司开发新的基于太空的监视和跟踪活动以 catalogue 和 characterize 小型碎片的分布,CHEOPS 的经验正在时有意义。目前,第一轮 CHEOPS 任务延伸计划持续至 2026 年底,可能的第二轮延伸则可延伸至 2029 年底,更长的时间覆盖将使我们的数据集对社区更加宝贵,尤其对于描述具有重复穿越的对象尤为重要。
