摘要
在IceCube即将建成之际，我们重新审视了建造千米尺度中微子探测器的理由。我们重点关注此类观测站揭示仍属谜团的宇宙线源的前景。虽然银河系宇宙线谱成分起源于超新星遗迹这一观点只差“确凿证据”，但河外成分的起源仍是一个谜。我们对伽马射线暴和活动星系的中微子发射进行了推测。
