摘要
高亮度LHC阶段旨在将LHC实验收集的数据量提高一个数量级。为在合理的时间尺度内实现这一目标,瞬时亮度也将提高一个数量级,达到。前向缪子谱仪区域()未配备RPC站。预期粒子通量将增至(包含安全系数3),这促使安装RPC室,以保证与已有的CSC室互为冗余。CMS现有的RPC技术无法承受预期的本底水平。将选择的新技术应具有高计数率能力,并提供良好的空间和时间分辨率。提出采用一种使用低电阻率(LR)玻璃的新一代玻璃RPC(GRPC),至少装备CMS四个高缪子站中最远的两个。首先介绍了小尺寸原型的设计及其在高通量粒子流下的性能研究。然后,探讨了大尺寸室的设计方案及其快定时电子学读出,并提供了初步结果。
