双层 Sr3Ru2O7 因其在扰动下展现出大量奇异相而受到极大关注。随着压力、磁场或掺杂的施加,新相涌现。本文通过研究 Sr3(Ru1-xMnx)2O7 的表面性质,表明创建表面是一种揭示不同于块体中所见隐藏相的替代且有效途径。受 RuO6 八面体倾斜畸变驱动,Sr3Ru2O7 的表面比块体金属性更弱。相反,由于 Mn 掺杂下倾斜消失和旋转增强,Sr3(Ru0.84Mn0.16)2O7 的表面为金属性而块体为绝缘性。我们的结果表明表面处的电子与结构性质紧密耦合,并与准二维特征一致。
