HESS J1640-465——一个异常明亮的 TeV 伽马射线超新星遗迹

摘要

本文报告了 2004 年至 2011 年间利用高能立体视野系统(H.E.S.S.)对 TeV 伽马射线源 HESS J1640-465 进行后续观测的结果。其能谱可由带有指数截断的幂律很好地描述,光子指数为 Gamma=2.11 +/- 0.09_stat +/- 0.10_sys,截断能量为 E_c = (6.0 +2.0 -1.2) TeV。TeV 辐射具有显著的延展性,并与超新星遗迹 G338.3-0.0 壳层的西北部分重叠。新的 H.E.S.S. 结果、对 XMM-Newton 档案数据的重新分析以及多波段观测表明,HESS J1640-465 的很大一部分伽马射线辐射起源于该超新星遗迹壳层。在强子模型中,正如 GeV 和 TeV 光谱平滑连接所表明的那样,总质子能量与平均目标密度的乘积可高达 W_p n_H ~ 4 x 10^52 (d/10kpc)^2 erg cm^-3。
