Lyman-α森林中的重元素：丰度与聚类分析（z=3）

为研究与Lyman-α森林相关的重元素性质，我们观测了引力透镜Q1422+2309。我们使用Keck望远镜上的HIRES仪器获得了该z=3.63类星体的高分辨率、极高信噪比谱，谱线覆盖从Lyman-β以下到C IV发射线。与先前估计一致，我们发现中等程度的Ly-α森林云已被富集了重元素，富度显著低于太阳值。然而，与Ly-α森林线呈相当均匀分布不同，我们表明C IV吸收线在较大速度尺度上是聚类的。
