GRB 080319B:来自遥远宇宙的肉眼可见恒星爆发

摘要

长时标伽马射线暴 (GRBs) 在整个电磁波谱上释放大量能量,从而为研究大质量恒星坍缩形成黑洞的过程提供了窗口。在过去四十年中,我们对 GRB 现象的理解取得了显著进展;然而,偶尔出现的特殊情况仍能提供尚未被探测到的机制访问权限。GRB 080319B 就提供了这样一个机会,其具有异常明亮的瞬时光学辐射,峰值视星等达到 5.3,使其在短时间内肉眼可见。广域望远镜以极高的细节捕捉到了该事件,对爆发位置进行了爆炸前成像。将这些独特的光学数据与同步伽马射线观测相结合,为该爆发形成后数秒内的详细物理过程提供了强有力的诊断依据。我们在此表明,该事件的瞬时光学和伽马射线辐射可能源于同一物理区域内不同的光谱分量,该区域位于距源极远处,意味着存在极端相对论性外流。宽带余辉的色度行为与沿双分量喷流极窄内芯观测 GRB 的情况一致,该喷流膨胀进入类风环境,这与长时标 GRB 的大质量恒星起源相符。这些情况可以解释该 GRB 的极端特性。
