z>5 星系：从夏威夷观察

我们审阅了使用 HST 和 Keck 望远镜所研究的 z>5 星系的性质，讨论了基于这些数据和正在进行的窄带成像survey 对 Lyman alpha emission-line 星系的可探测性（可达 z~6.5）。最亮的源可能显示出 (R-Z) 颜色突变，尽管在 Z 波段 (lambda_{eff} ~ 9200 Å) 的高天空背景使得对典型微弱源的观测具有挑战性。Keck LRIS 对 z=5 SDSS 类星体以及使用 HST 在 HDF 中观察到的 z>5 星系表明，Lyman 边的强度的演化速度比在 z~3 处的模型外推预测的要慢得多。
