下一代事件视界望远镜的基础物理学机遇

摘要

事件视界望远镜(Event Horizon Telescope, EHT)合作组织近期发布了 Messier 87 和银河系核心超大质量黑洞的首批图像。这些观测为研究超大质量黑洞及探索强场区域发生的物理过程提供了新途径。我们回顾了利用下一代事件视界望远镜(next-generation Event Horizon Telescope, ngEHT)对超大质量黑洞系统进行未来观测与理论研究的展望,ngEHT 将极大增强现有 EHT 阵列的能力。这些提升将开启数条此前无法触及的研究途径,从而为理解超大质量黑洞及其环境特性提供重要的新见解。本综述描述了五个关键科学案例的当前认知状态,总结了 ngEHT 将为基础物理学研究带来的独特挑战与机遇。
