HAWC 对太阳的首次观测限制稳态 TeV 伽马射线发射

在 Fermi-LAT 数据中已探测到来自太阳圆面、至少达 200 GeV 的稳态伽马射线发射,其中最亮、最硬的发射出现在太阳活动极小期。可能的原因是在磁场中由入射转为出射的强子宇宙线与太阳大气碰撞,尽管确切机制尚不清楚。对伽马射线产生机制的一项重要新检验将来自更高能量的观测。只有高海拔水切伦科夫(HAWC)天文台具备在 TeV 能段有效探测太阳所需的灵敏度。利用 2014 年 11 月至 2017 年 12 月(恰在太阳活动极小期之前)的三年 HAWC 数据,我们搜寻来自太阳圆面的 1–100 TeV 伽马射线。未观测到信号证据,并在 1 TeV 处流量为几个 TeV cm s 量级设定了强上限。我们的极限(关于太阳 TeV 伽马射线最严格的限制结果)是基于所有入射宇宙线均产生出射光子的模型所得理论最大流量的 ,而该最大流量又与 Fermi-LAT 在约 100 GeV 附近的数据相当。HAWC 在 2018 年初开始的太阳活动极小期首次探测到太阳 TeV 发射的前景尤其高。
