从 DESI 早期数据中对 BAO 信号的首次探测

摘要

我们展示了使用第四阶段地基暗能量光谱仪(DESI)运行初始两个月期间收集的解盲数据所获得的重子声学振荡(BAO)信号的首次探测。从选取的 261,291 个亮红星系样本中(红移区间 0.4 < z < 1.1,覆盖 1651 平方度,完备度 57.9%),我们报告了约 5 西格玛水平的 BAO 探测,并以 1.7% 的精度测量了 BAO 位置。使用红移范围 0.1 < z < 0.5 内 109,523 个星系的亮星系样本(覆盖 3677 平方度,完备度 50.0%),我们也以约 3 西格玛显著性、2.6% 的精度探测到 BAO 特征。这些首批 BAO 测量代表了一个重要里程碑,充当复杂的机器人驱动光纤馈入 DESI 光谱仪最优性能的质量控制,也是对 DESI 光谱管线与数据管理系统的早期验证。基于这些初步有前景的结果,我们预测 DESI 有望在完成五年巡天数据后以亚百分精度实现高显著性 BAO 探测,满足 BAO 测量的顶层科学要求。这一极高精度将树立宇宙学新标准,并确认 DESI 为本十年剩余时间内最具竞争力的 BAO 实验。
