探索 ESSnuSB 实验中的大气中子振荡

摘要
本研究对 ESSnuSB 远探测器设施中的大气中子振荡进行分析。对总 fiducial 质量为 540 kt 的两个圆柱形水 Cerenkov 探测器在标准三味振荡情景下进行 10 年数据采集的探望。我们给出 mass ordering、θ_{23} octant 以及 sin^2θ_{23} 和 |Δm_{31}^2| 精度的置信区间。结果表明,无论真实中子质量排序如何,4 年后即可通过 3σ 置信区间 (5σ 置信区间) 解析出 mass ordering。相应地,在 true 中子质量排序为 normal ordering (反向 ordering) 时,4 年后 (8 年后) 可通过 3σ 置信区间排除错误的 θ_{23} octant。本文所呈现的结果与 ESSnuSB 项目中的加速度器中子计划相互补充。
