利用 ICARUS-T600 LAr-TPC 实验观测到极高的电子寿命

摘要

ICARUS T600 探测器是经过多年研发活动后建成的最大液氩时间投影室 (LAr-TPC),已在 INFN 格兰萨索地下实验室成功安装并运行了 3 年。其中最关键的问题之一是液氩中残留的电负性杂质含量需极低,以便电离粒子产生的自由电子在漂移路径上以极小的衰减进行传输。所采用的氩气再循环和纯化系统解决方案在氩气纯度方面取得了令人瞩目的成果,自由电子寿命超过 15 ms,相当于约 20 ppt 的等效O2O_2污染,这是任何涉及 LAr-TPC 的未来项目及更大型探测器质量规模发展的一个里程碑。
