TeV双星系统LS I +61 303以其规律的、非热辐射模式而闻名,该模式追踪了致密天体绕其B0 Ve恒星伴星26.5天轨道的周期。该系统通常在远星点经过前后表现出升高的TeV发射,通量水平为蟹状星云稳态通量(>300 GeV)的5%至15%。本文展示了VERITAS在2014年底对LS I +61 303的观测,期间探测到远星点附近明亮的TeV耀发,通量峰值超过蟹状星云通量的30%。这是该源在TeV波段观测到的最明亮此类活动。强爆发上升和下降时间小于一天。耀发的短时间尺度,结合耀发期间从LS I +61 303观测到的10 TeV光子,对该源中加速器的性质给出了约束。
