W51复合体中接近PeV能量粒子加速的证据

摘要

W51复合体的 γ\gamma 射线辐射被广泛认为源于超新星遗迹(SNR)W51C激波加速的宇宙射线(CRs)与相邻恒星形成区W51B中致密分子云的相互作用。然而,W51C对CRs的最大加速能力仍不明确。基于大型高海拔空气簇射观测站(LHAASO)的观测,我们报告了对来自W51复合体、能量从2 TeV到200 TeV的 γ\gamma 射线的显著探测。LHAASO的测量首次将W51复合体的 γ\gamma 射线辐射扩展至100 TeV以上,并揭示了在数十TeV处显著的光谱弯曲。结合Fermi-LAT具有“π0\pi^0 衰变凸起”特征的数据,W51区域的宽带 γ\gamma 射线光谱可以很好地用简单的 pp 碰撞模型表征。观测到的光谱弯曲特征表明,CR质子光谱在约400 TeV处存在指数截止,或在约200 TeV处存在幂律断裂,这极有可能是SNR作为接近PeV能区CR加速器的首个证据。此外,W51B内的两个年轻星团在理论上也可能产生LHAASO观测到的最高能 γ\gamma 射线。我们的发现有力地支持了W51复合体内存在极端CR加速器,并为银河系CR的起源提供了新见解。
