基于光学与中红外成像巡天的遥远类星体尘埃反响映射

摘要

活动星系核(AGN)及其高光度对应体类星体的尘埃环尺寸,可由UV/光学吸积盘连续谱变率与中红外(MIR)环发射响应之间的时间延迟推断。这种尘埃反响映射(RM)技术已成功应用于约70个红移z≲0.3的AGN和类星体。本文展示了我们针对SDSS Stripe 82区域所覆盖遥远类星体的尘埃RM项目的首批结果,结合了约20年地基光学光变曲线与来自WISE卫星的10年中红外光变曲线。我们测量了587个红移0.3≲z≲2(平均红移⟨z⟩∼0.8)、光度跨越两个数量级的类星体在W1波段(3.4 μm)与g波段之间的高保真延迟。它们紧密遵循(延迟内禀弥散∼0.17 dex)z<0.3 AGN所观测到的红外延迟-光度关系,揭示了跨越AGN光度四个数量级以上的尘埃环显著尺寸-光度关系,且对爱丁顿比和变率幅度等附加类星体性质依赖甚微。本研究推动了尘埃RM在宇宙学应用中的进一步探索,并有力支持了将10年Vera C. Rubin天文台时空遗产巡天(光学)与5年Nancy Grace Roman空间望远镜2 μm光变曲线相结合的深层巡天科学案,以对低红移、光度更低且可测更短红外延迟的AGN进行尘埃RM。我们母样本中7384个类星体的汇编光学与中红外光变曲线随本文公开。
