富中子 $^{144}$Ba 中八极形变的直接证据

摘要

富中子核 144^{144}Ba (t1/2t_{1/2}=11.5 s) 预计在质量数 AA 小于200的核中展现出最强的八极关联之一。迄今,此类强关联间接证据由诸如增强的 E1E1 跃迁以及基态带中交错的正负宇称能级等观测推断而来。在本实验中,八极强度通过亚势垒多步库仑激发直接测量:将后加速的650-MeV 144^{144}Ba 束流作用于 1.0-mg/cm2^2 208^{208}Pb 靶。测得的矩阵元值 31M(E3)01+=0.65(23+17)\langle 3_1^- \| \mathcal{M}(E3) \| 0_1^+ \rangle=0.65(^{+17}_{-23}) eeb3/2^{3/2} 对应于约化 B(E3)B(E3) 跃迁概率 48(34+25^{+25}_{-34}) W.u.。该结果代表了八极集体性的明确测定,大于任何可用的理论预测,且与八极形变一致。
