XENON10暗物质实验的设计与性能

摘要

XENON10是XENON暗物质搜索计划中开发的首个双相氙时间投影室(TPC)。该TPC的活性液氙(LXe)质量约为14 kg,安装在意大利Gran Sasso地下实验室(LNGS),运行超过一年,具有出色的稳定性和性能。XENON10的暗物质搜索结果已在别处发表。本文基于使用伽马射线和中子源的标定数据以及本底和蒙特卡罗模拟数据,总结了探测器及其子系统的设计和性能。探测器的能量阈值、能量和位置分辨率以及整体效率的结果表明,其性能超过了设计规格,这得益于所实现的极低能量阈值(<10 keVr)以及通过同时探测电离和闪烁信号而实现的出色能量分辨率。
