南极声学测试装置的设计与性能

摘要
南极声学测试装置(SPATS)旨在评估南极冰层在10 kHz至100 kHz频率范围内的声学特性,以评估在南极部署声学中微子探测阵列的可行性。SPATS硬件由部署在南极冰盖上层500米的四根垂直串列组成。这些串列构成一个梯形阵列,最大基线长度为543米。每根串列有7个层级,各配备一个发射器和一个传感器模块。声音由模块内的压电陶瓷元件探测或产生。模拟信号通过电缆传送到地表,由基于PC的数据采集系统进行数字化。所有串列的数据在IceCube实验室的一台中央计算机上汇集,然后通过卫星链路发送到中央数据存储设施,或本地存储在磁带上。本文介绍了SPATS的技术概况及其性能。
