水基液体闪烁体在加速器中微子中子相互作用实验中的部署

摘要

加速器中微子中子相互作用实验(ANNIE)是一个安装在费米实验室助推器中微子束(BNB)上的26吨水切伦科夫中微子探测器。其主要物理目标是测量中微子-核相互作用的中子产额,以及μ子中微子的带电流截面。另一个同样重要的重点是研究和开发新的探测器技术和靶介质。具体而言,水基液体闪烁体(WbLS)作为一种新型探测器介质备受关注,因为它可以同时探测闪烁光和切伦科夫光。本文介绍了2023年3月在ANNIE中部署一个366升WbLS容器,以及随后从WbLS中探测到切伦科夫光和闪烁光。这一概念验证为未来在ANNIE中开发重建和粒子识别算法以及专门分析(例如在WbLS体积内搜索中性流事件和强子闪烁成分)奠定了基础。
