CoNIC 挑战赛:推进细胞核检测、分割、分类与计数的前沿

摘要

细胞核检测、分割与形态计量分析对于进一步理解组织学与患者预后间的关系至关重要。为驱动该领域的创新,我们利用同类中最大的可用数据集设立了一项社区级挑战赛,以评估细胞核分割与细胞组成。我们的挑战赛名为 CoNIC,促进了可复现的细胞识别算法开发,并在公共排行榜上提供实时结果检视。我们基于使用 1,658 张结肠组织全切片图像(WSI)的顶尖模型进行了广泛的赛后分析。每模型约检测 7 亿个细胞核,相关特征被用于异型增生分级与生存分析,其中我们证明挑战赛相对先前最先进(SOTA)方法的改进显著提升了下游性能。我们的发现还提示嗜酸性粒细胞与中性粒细胞在肿瘤微环境中发挥重要作用。我们发布挑战赛模型与 WSI 级别结果,以推动用于生物标志物发现的进一步方法开发。
