摘要

相干弹性中微子-原子核散射(CEν\nuNS)是中微子与作为单一粒子行动的原子核散射的过程。尽管按中微子标准总截面很大,CEν\nuNS长期难以探测,因为沉积到原子核中的能量为\sim keV。2017年,COHERENT合作组宣布使用停止π介子源与CsI探测器探测到CEν\nuNS,随后使用Ar靶探测到CEν\nuNS。CEν\nuNS的探测引发了高能物理中的大量活动,激发了对超越标准模型(BSM)物理的新约束与新实验方法。CEν\nuNS过程不仅对高能物理,也对天体物理、核物理等领域有重要意义。本白皮书讨论了CEν\nuNS的科学重要性,强调诸如COHERENT的当前实验如何为理论提供信息,以及未来实验将如何在上述物理领域提供丰富信息。
