外盘性质揭示的径向迁移线索

星系的外盘为研究盘状星系形成过程提供了独特的实验室。相当一部分观测到的盘状星系在其面亮度轮廓中存在断裂。这些特征的普遍性指向了盘状星系形成中必须解释的关键方面。近期的理论工作表明，此类断裂与显著的径向迁移有关。我们讨论了支持这一图景的当前观测证据。
