基于多环�烃红外发射对两个热型星系外流候选对象的表征

摘要

我们对两个来自相对低质量、高度倾斜的Virgo星系簇中的星系NGC4424和NGC4694的热型星系外流候选对象进行表征。以往的分析使用阿塔卡马大气镜阵列(ALMA)的碳氢单氧化物(CO)线发射图未将这些来源归类为热外流宿主。利用新的高灵敏度、高空间分辨率的JWST中红外光度测量数据,我们在多环烯烃(PAH)-追踪F770W波段中识别出位于恒星盘之外的延伸结构。这些被识别的结构在MIRI F770W和F2100W波段中均显著亮起,表明它们包含PAH以及其他尘埃颗粒。由于PAH在高温、离子化气体中被破坏,这些结构很可能是温度≤10^4K的冷型外流。本工作代表了一种利用中红外观测识别和测量低质量、低星际形成星系中外流的激动 possibility。
