T2K三维分段塑料闪烁体探测器的光学模型表征

摘要

T2K长基线中微子振荡实验的磁化近探测器(ND280)近期进行了升级,旨在满足降低中微子-原子核相互作用截面测量所带来的系统不确定性的要求,而该系统不确定性是寻找轻子电荷-宇称对称性破坏中最大的系统不确定性。升级的关键组件之一是SuperFGD,这是一个由约2,000,000个光学隔离的1 cm³立方体组成的三维分段塑料闪烁体探测器。它将通过结合终态粒子的径迹测量与阻止本领测量,以亚纳秒时间分辨率提供GeV中微子相互作用的三维图像。SuperFGD的性能由其对带电粒子响应的精度以及可能影响物理测量的系统效应来表征。因此,基于Geant4的SuperFGD构建模块——即由三个波长转换光纤读出的塑料闪烁体立方体——的详细光学模拟已经开发完成,并通过在不同束流测试中收集的各种数据集进行了验证。本手稿报告了该光学模型的描述以及与数据的比较。
