HAWC观测站中微子搜寻的本底表征

摘要

HAWC观测站靠近墨西哥最大火山的位置,使得搜寻中微子诱导的水平缪子和陶带电轻子成为可能。位于地平线处的火山截面达到大于8 km岩石的斜深,使其成为宇宙线水平本底的优良屏蔽体。我们报告了为利用HAWC探测掠地中微子所开发的搜寻方法与本底抑制技术,以及一个描述由散射缪子产生的剩余本底的模型。我们表明,通过提高探测能量阈值,我们可以利用HAWC搜寻中微子诱导的带电轻子。
