GERDA中用于未来双β衰变实验的反同轴$^{76}$Ge探测器表征

摘要

正在利用锗探测器搜寻76^{76}Ge的无中微子双β衰变,其中衰变源与探测器为同一物质。对于未来实验的成功,增加探测器质量十分重要。我们在此报道由富集至88% 76^{76}Ge的材料制成的五只反同轴(IC)几何原型探测器的表征与测试。IC探测器结合了传统半同轴Ge探测器的大质量与点接触探测器优越的能量分辨及脉冲形状甄别能力,而后者质量迄今低得多。在GERDA装置中,无论于真空低温恒温器中还是裸露置于液氩中运行,其性能均令人满意。在76^{76}Ge双β衰变Q值(Qββ_{\beta\beta} = 2039 keV)处测得的真空低温恒温器能量分辨率约为2.1 keV半高全宽。在GERmanium Detector Array(GERDA)实验超低本底环境中运行18个月、累积曝光量8.5 kg\cdotyr后,经分析切割后的本底指数在Qββ_{\beta\beta}附近测得为4.93.4+7.3×1044.9^{+7.3}_{-3.4}\times 10^{-4} counts /(keV\cdotkg\cdotyr)。本工作确认了IC探测器用于下一代实验LEGEND的可行性。
