摘要
种群中雄性与雌性的比例是有性物种的一个重要特征。这一生物学特性为何能被自然界观察者所认知，似乎是一个从未被提出过的问题。通过引入历史适应种群作为维持成本函数的全局最小化者的概念，我们对已报道的该特征稳定性提出了理论解释。这一数学公式化表明，性别比可以被视为由种群规模与资源有限性之间的拮抗作用所塑造的间接结果。
