分析3C 279中的偏振摆动

摘要

类星体3C 279已知会表现出光学偏振角旋转的时段。我们展示了3C 279新的、采样良好的光学偏振数据,并引入了一种区分随机和确定性电矢量位置角(EVPA)变化的方法。我们观察到EVPA在两个方向上的旋转,幅度不同,并发现EVPA变化同时具有随机和确定性特征。我们的分析表明,在喷流的低亮度状态下,EVPA变化可能由随机过程主导,而在耀发状态下则由确定性过程主导。
