摘要
基本自旋-1/2 粒子的永久电偶极矩同时违反宇称 (P) 与时间反演 (T) 对称性,因不存在 CPT 破坏迹象,故也违反电荷-宇称 (CP) 对称性。对中子电偶极矩 (nEDM) 的搜寻可在标准模型之内与之外探测 CP 破坏。该实验在保罗·谢勒研究所 (PSI) 开展,所用装置是 RAL/Sussex/ILL 合作组 Baker 等人(Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 131801 (2006))给出当前最佳实验上限 dn < 2.9E-26 e·cm (90% C.L.) 的装置的改进升级版本。在未来两年内,我们旨在将装置的灵敏度提升至 σ(dn) = 2.6E-27 e·cm,对应于在零结果情况下的上限 dn < 5E-27 e·cm (95% C.L.)。与此同时,合作组正致力于设计一套新装置,以将灵敏度进一步提升至 σ(dn) = 2.6E-28 e·cm。
