地中海西北部深海快速向下运动事件期间的声学与光学变化

声学多普勒流速剖面仪 (ADCP) 系泊于法国土伦附近 ANTARES 中微子望远镜的深海站点,从而提供了一个在距海底 2475 m 高度处 70 至 170 m 范围内对比高分辨率声学与光学观测的独特机会。在 2006 年冬末和初春,ADCP 测量到量值高达 0.03 m s-1 的向下垂直流。在同一时期,观测到声反射水平增强了约 10 倍(解释为包括浮游动物在内的悬浮颗粒),以及达到 0.35 m s-1 的水平流。这些观测与望远镜探测到的高光水平相吻合,被解释为生物发光的增加。2006 年冬季,利古里亚次海盆发生了深层密水形成,从而为这些观测提供了可能的解释。然而,持续至夏季的 10-20 天准周期性的高声反射、高光水平和大垂直流事件并非该过程的直接证据。据推测,允许悬浮物质在一年中晚些时候发生垂直运动的主要过程是局部平流,它与“北向流”边缘的地形边界流不稳定性有关。
