迄今为止,所有恒星级黑洞都是通过伴星吸积到黑洞上的气体所发射的 X 射线来识别的。这些系统均为黑洞质量低于 30 M 的双星。然而,理论预测 X 射线发射系统仅占星-黑洞双星总种群的少数。当黑洞不吸积气体时,可通过伴星运动的视向速度测量来发现它。在此,我们报道对一颗银河系恒星 LB-1(一颗 B 型星)历时两年所取的视向速度测量。我们发现,B 星的运动以及伴随的 H 发射线要求存在一个质量为 M 的暗伴星,其只能是一个黑洞。78.9 天的长轨道周期表明这是一个宽双星系统。引力波实验已探测到质量类似的黑洞,但在高金属丰度环境中形成如此大质量的黑洞对当前的恒星演化理论而言极具挑战性。
