在DPPC水溶液中发现一种膨胀相，其脂质双层平均重复距离大于其他相。通过小角中子散射研究了该结构的温度、压力和乙醇浓度依赖性，并通过中子自旋回声测量了脂质双层的弯曲刚性。该膨胀相的性质类似于先前报告的异常膨胀。然而，该膨胀相的平均重复距离和脂质双层弯曲刚性的温度依赖性不同。该相可能是由压力和/或加入乙醇诱导的嵌合凝胶相的前体。
