摘要
印度夏季风环流在五月下旬／六月上旬的启动源于大尺度海陆热力对比，以及在印度河-恒河平原的季风槽与副热带印度洋上的马斯克林高压之间建立的负气压梯度。经向气压梯度与地球自转（科里奥利力）共同产生夏季风跨赤道气流，而载湿风与降水系统潜热释放之间的反馈在六至九月（JJAS）雨季维持季风环流（Krishnamurti and Surgi, 1987）。这一简化的印度季风图景是洞察大尺度季风环流变率的有用起点。
