我们在弧分分辨率下绘制了银河系盘区90%以上范围的21cm谱线HI自吸收(HISA)冷原子气体图。为探测H2云的形成,我们将HISA分布与CO J=1-0谱线发射进行了比较。外银河系中少数HISA特征在相同位置和速度处有CO,而大多数内银河系HISA有重叠的CO。但许多表观的内银河系HISA-CO成协可解释为偶然叠加,因此大多数内银河系HISA也可能无CO。由于标准平衡云模型无法解释许多HISA特征中极冷HI的存在(若无分子在场),这些云反而可能具有显著的CO暗H2(CO-dark H2)。
