伽马射线模块GMOD是一种小型化新型伽马射线探测器,将成为教育型爱尔兰研究卫星(EIRSAT-1)2U CubeSat任务的主科学载荷。GMOD由紧凑(25mm 25mm 40mm)溴化铈闪烁体耦合至44硅光电倍增管平铺阵列构成,前端读出由IDE3380 SIPHRA提供。本文给出GMOD的详细设计及仪器在受限CubeSat外形内的适配。电子与机械接口兼容许多现成CubeSat系统与结构。GMOD工程鉴定模型的能量响应已使用放射源测定,在662keV处测得能量分辨率为5.4%。EIRSAT-1将对GMOD数据进行星上处理。触发结果(包括光变曲线与能谱)将纳入航天器信标并连续传输。廉价硬件即可用于解码信标信号,使数据可被广泛群体获取。除EIRSAT-1任务的教育与技术演示目标外,GMOD将具备探测伽马射线暴的科学能力。迄今的详细设计与测量证明了GMOD在 low Earth orbit(近地轨道)的能力、该设计对更大CubeSat的可扩展性,以及作为未来大型伽马射线任务单元的可扩展性。
