2023 天体光子学路线图:实现多功能集成天体光子仪器的路径
摘要
光子学提供了众多可用于实现天体光子仪器的功能。迄今为止最引人注目的例子是智利甚大望远镜上的 ESO Gravity 仪器。集成天体光子器件有望为仪器开发带来关键优势,包括极度小型化、集成化、因小尺寸带来的优异热与机械稳定性,以及高可复制性带来的成本节约。迄今已开发众多天体光子技术以解决传统仪器的不足,例如光子灯笼、复杂非周期光纤布拉格光栅、用于实现长基线干涉的复杂光束组合器,以及用于光谱仪高精度光谱校准的激光频率梳。尽管取得这些成功,光子解决方案在天文仪器中的设施级应用目前仍受限,原因包括:(1) 从耦合到光纤、光纤到芯片耦合、传播与弯曲损耗、器件损耗等导致的低通量;(2) 难以扩展到大带宽与高分辨率所需的大通道数器件;(3) 光子学与探测器的高效集成等。在本路线图中,我们确定了 24 个需进一步发展的领域。我们概述了这些领域在设计工具、仿真能力、制造工艺、全新元件需求、集成与混合化以及器件表征方面所需的挑战与进展。要实现这些进展,天体光子学界须与具备更先进制造能力的产业伙伴开展合作。借助本文所述的进展,将实现多功能仪器,从而为地面与空间平台带来新型观测能力。
