我将首先简要回顾杨-米尔斯理论在粒子加速器上取得的胜利，这一发展始于他们具有历史意义的论文发表数年之后。这个故事在2012年大型强子对撞机发现类希格斯标量玻色子时达到顶峰，或至少局部极值。随后报告进入稍具技术性的层面，讨论我们如何从高能加速器使用的标准模型及其扩展的规范场论推导预测。
