脉冲星的宽带同步观测:分离色散量与轮廓变化

摘要

星际介质中的色散是一种众所周知的现象,遵循简单的关系式,自 20 世纪 60 年代末以来一直被用于预测色散射电脉冲的时间延迟。我们利用 LOFAR(40-190 MHz)、76 米 Lovell 望远镜(1400 MHz)和 Effelsberg 100 米望远镜(8000 MHz)对四颗脉冲星进行了宽带同步观测,以检验色散定律在宽频带范围内的准确性。本文展示了这些观测结果,表明在我们观测频段内,色散定律的准确度优于十万分之一。我们利用这一事实约束了视线方向上星际介质(ISM)的某些性质,并利用未观测到任何光行差或延迟效应,确定了脉冲星磁层中发射高度的上限。我们还讨论了脉冲轮廓演化对我们观测的影响,及其对脉冲星计时阵列探测引力波等高精度脉冲星计时项目可能产生的启示。
