无疑，我们需要坚实的基础。我们能在沙土上建造什么样的城堡？如果地基如此脆弱以至于结构会因自身重量而坍塌，那么致力于阳台和尖塔又有何意义？我们希望我们的基础建立在基岩之上，设计得能延续数代。谁会想要一位无法证明其建筑基础稳固性的建筑师呢？
