仙女座（M 31）是距我们银河系最近的巨型旋涡星系，在过去几十年中被称为本星系群中质量最大的成员。我探讨了过去约 80 年间所测得的 M 31 质量的演变，回顾了随时间发展出的用于测量其质量的不同观测与建模技术。我讨论了当前对 M 31 质量的最佳约束以及不同技术之间的一致性。
