因果连续性通常通过施加条件（i）区分性和（ii）反射性来定义。此处证明了介于弱区分和因果性之间的一种新因果性属性（称为微弱区分性）实际上可以在因果连续性的定义中取代区分性。一个中间证明表明，微弱区分性和未来（过去）反射性蕴含过去（相应地，未来）区分性。还给出了弱区分性和反射性的一些新刻画。
