VST-SMASH:VST 质量聚集与结构层级巡天

摘要

VLT 巡天望远镜质量聚集与结构层级巡天(VST-SMASH)旨在探测极近邻星系周围的潮汐特征和残骸,这是星系形成层级本质的独特且关键的诊断手段。利用 ESO 帕拉纳尔天文台的最佳观测条件,结合 VST 的多波段光学滤镜,VST-SMASH 旨在成为本地体积内恒星流和潮汐残骸的权威巡天,目标是在 g 和 r 波段达到面亮度极限 \(\mu \sim\) 30 mag arcsec^{-2},在i波段达到,在 i 波段达到 μ\mu \sim 28 mag arcsec2^{-2},针对 11 Mpc 以内且位于 Euclid 足迹内的体积限制本地星系样本。
