马克阿拉501的极高能γ射线观测

摘要

马克阿拉501是一颗位于最近距离(z=0.033)的X射线选取的BL Lacerte型天体,是极高能(VHE,E≥300 GeV)γ射线的著名来源。人们检测到其γ射线发射在从年尺度到仅需两小时这样极短的时间尺度上都有显著的变率。多波段观测也揭示了VHEγ射线与硬X射线通量可能存在相关性。本文将呈现我们对1999年使用Whipple合作10米大气克尔观测望远镜所做观测的结果,并将其置于1996-1998年对马克阿拉501观测的背景中加以讨论。
