GRB 020124于z=3.20处的极高柱列密度与小红度

我们报告了对GRB 020124微弱尾后glow的光学和近红外观测,观测时间为γ射线暴发生后2-68小时。该暴发生在一个非常微弱(R>29.5)的滞后氢吸收(DLA)处,红移为z=3.198±0.004。推导出中性氢柱列密度为log(N_H)=21.7±0.2,剩余帧红度受限为E(B-V)<0.065,即对于标准消光律(R_V≈3)有A_V<0.20。 resulting dust-to-gas比例小于以太阳系为基准的11%,但与星系团DLA和星际暗物质中观测到的SMC值相符,表明该暴环境中金属浓度低且/或尘埃/金属比例低。通过破坏小颗粒尘埃可产生的灰色消光律(大R_V),可增加推导出的A_V和尘埃/气体比例。尽管如此,尾后glow的微弱性完全可以用高红移来解释:如果GRB 020124发生在z=1,它的亮度将约高1.8个星等——在典型明亮尾后glow的范围内。
